We believe in working with accredited farmers
At our core, we prioritize working with accredited farmers, particularly smallholder farmers from the Lower Eastern region of Kenya. Our commitment goes beyond mere transactions; we establish long-term partnerships with these farmers, ensuring their success and empowerment. Through meticulous contracting processes, we formalize our agreements, providing clarity and security for both parties involved. We maintain a rigorous monitoring process, overseeing every step of the production chain to uphold stringent standards of quality control and organic growing practices. Furthermore, we advocate for fair trade principles, ensuring that our farmers receive equitable compensation for their goods. By championing accreditation, transparency, and fair practices, we strive to foster sustainable agricultural ecosystems while uplifting the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in our community.
Innovative Approach for Accessible Food and Community Resilience
Moreover, our innovative approach intersects agribusiness, cold storage, and fintech, offering holistic solutions that not only make food more accessible but also contribute to the overall resilience of the local food ecosystem. Bel’s Organic is not just a company; it’s a social enterprise with a purpose-driven commitment to creating positive change at every level of the agro-processing journey.
Circularity and ESG
Organic Waste
Our organic waste from garlic and ginger peels coupled with food waste at the factory goes into a compost pit. This produces organic manure that is used in our farms
Plastic Waste
We are partnering with a recycling company to collect and recycle our plastic waste to reduce our plastic footprint
Flour Waste
Packages of flour that are damaged and returned to the factory are used to make animal feeds for dogs, cows and pigs which are sold to farmers
We have several flagship products geared towards improved nutrition.
The garlic and ginger pastes are instrumental in boosting immunity, improving digestion, and lowering cholesterol levels and blood pressure among other benefits.
For the Composite flour, we mix maize, cassava, sorghum, and millet to increase the value to the normal maize meal that Kenyans are accustomed to. This improves overall health by lowering cholesterol levels and high blood pressure and reduces the risk of diabetes, which has become prevalent in the current society.
